jones_charles_richardCharles Richard (Ricky) Jones, 45, of Mt. Olivet Community in Pulaski, Va., died early on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, in Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born on November 29, 1964, in Pulaski, and was the son of Dorothy Harrell Jones and the late Franklin Duane Jones Sr. He was a member of the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, and was known to many in the community for his farming. Ricky was also a former manager of the Virginia Feed Store in Pulaski, and a former manager of the Old Wytheville Livestock Market. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Duane (F.D.) Jones Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Amy Sanchez Jones, of Pulaski; two sons, Glendon Jones and Matt Jones, of Pulaski; a “son,” Doug Shelton, of Pulaski; a sister, Deborah Jones Thomas and her husband, Richard, of Pulaski; mother-in-law, Dot Sanchez, of Fairlawn; a niece, Amanda T. Matney and her husband, Ed, of Moneta; a nephew, Duane Thomas, of Pulaski; a great-nephew, Camden Matney, of Moneta; along with many special friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with the Rev. Judy Yonce and the Rev. Kelly Howlett officiating. Interment will follow in Hufford Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Seagle Funeral Home from 5 until 8 p.m. Flowers will be appreciated, but for those who wish, they may make memorial contributions in Ricky’s memory to the Pulaski County High School F.F.A., c/o Pulaski County High School or to any local farming charity.
