Jones, Annie Summers

Annie Kathleen (Miss Tootsie) Jones, 77, of Eggleston, Va., departed this life on Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg, to be with her heavenly Father.

She was born in Pearisburg, on January 12, 1932, one of four children of the late Cecil and Cindy Slash Summers. She was united in marriage to the late Marco Polo Jones and to their union were born three children. She was a faithful member of the Goodwill Church of God in Christ in Eggleston until her departure. Sister Kathleen (Tootsie) to some of her family will be missed and remembered always with much love. She is gone, but will never be forgotten.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Vanessa Scott and her husband, Roscoe Scott, and Melissa Jones, all of Eggleston; one son and daughter-in-law, Marco and Brenda Jones, of Dublin; her sister, Vellen King, of Pembroke; her brother, James Summers, of Pembroke; three grandchildren, Brittany Scott, of Lorton, Courtney Jones, of Blacksburg, and Taylor Jones, of Dublin; her godchildren, Tony Peoples and Michael T. Peoples, of Pearisburg; her long time friends, Clara Freeman and Francis Freeman; sister-in-law, Estelle Summers and John Lockey; and brother-in-law, Calvin (Mayo) Jones and Trudy Jones.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2009, in the Goodwill Church of God in Christ at Eggleston with Elder Clinton D. Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke on Friday evening, September 4, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m.
