Ricky Dale Johnston, 52, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Wednesday, December 10, 2008. God saw Rik getting tired and, oh so suddenly He wrapped His arm around him and whispered “Come to Me.”

A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands now at rest. God broke so many hearts to prove He only takes the best. We’ve been taught, God has a master plan.

The life of one we love is never lost … Rik’s influence will go on through all the lives he ever touched.

He was born in Radford, Va., on February 12, 1956, and was preceded in death by his father, Garnett Hueston Johnston. He is survived by his mother, Bobbie D. Johnston; sister, Rita Johnston; brother and fiance, Michael Todd Johnston, and Trish Hager; and a very special niece, Katelin Sue Johnston, all of Blacksburg. Many thanks to Debbie Songer and co-workers at Wilco-Hess for their support and friendship for the past 13 years; also Joseph Cromer amongst many other friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2008, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug Reed officiating. Interment will follow in the Centennial Christian Church Cemetery, McCoy, Va. There will be no public gathering at the funeral home and at the home following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, Va. 24018.
