Johnston, Juel Neil

Juel Neil (Nub) Johnston, 69, of McCoy, Va., died on Sunday, January 9, 2011, at Raleigh Court Health and Rehab. He was born in Montgomery County, Va., on November 4, 1941, to the late Otho Ray and Alma Margaret McCoy Johnston, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Janette Battle; three brothers, Jack Johnston, Julian Johnston and Jerry Johnston; and a sister-in-law, Jackie Jo Johnston.

He is survived by special nieces, Debbie and Jackie Meeks, Delores and Larry Anderson, all of Rocky Mount; nephews, Ralph and Kathy Johnston, of McCoy, and Johnny and Evonna Johnston, of Christiansburg; guardian and special nephew, Mike and Lisa Johnston, of Roanoke; a sister-in-law, Rachel Johnston, of Christiansburg; several greatnieces and great-nephews; numerous cousins; and his Polly Summitt family in Big Stone Gap, Va.

Funeral Services will be conducted 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, in the Centennial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Pastor Steven Jumper officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
