Johnson, Ronnell Thomas
Ronnell Thomas Johnson, 54, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones and in the arms of his wife of 29 years after sustaining injuries from a tragic accident.
Ronnell was born on June 21, 1968 to Paul and Barbara Johnson of Pearisburg, Virginia. Ronnell graduated from Giles High School, where he played football and ran track. After high school, he went on to serve in the United States Army. After serving in the military, he and his wife settled in Florida and began a life together. Ronnell had a long career as a Commercial Driver and was an extremely hard-working, dedicated man.
Ronnell’s smile would truly light up a room. He loved everyone but most importantly, he was a loving and caring father and husband. He had a love/hate relationship with golf but the friendship bonds he made on the golf course were unbreakable. He was also fully convinced he was a professional wrestler and practiced his moves on his younger brother, Stephen, and his cousins, Allan and Shawn. He enjoyed cooking and grilling and will forever be known as the “Rib King”. He loved music, was always singing and dancing and making those around him laugh with his unique sense of humor.
Ronnell was predeceased by his father, Paul Johnson. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Johnson; his wife, Christina Johnson; his daughters Gatane Gallagher Muslimani (husband Raed), Dominique Johnson and Chauntel Johnson; his grandchildren, Nolan, Alden and Leona; and his brother, Stephen Johnson (wife Desiree) as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Pearisburg on Saturday, April 15, 2023, where viewing will be held from 2:00-3:00 pm with the funeral service immediately thereafter. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church of Pearisburg, a church Ronnell will always consider home.
