Johnson, Paul Thomas

Paul Thomas Johnson, 62, of Pearisburg, departed this life Saturday morning, July 5, 2008 at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg.

Born in Ballard, Monroe Co., W.Va. on October 2, 1945, he was a son of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Elva Mae Gore Johnson. Paul was a devout Christian man, member of First Baptist Church Choir, “The Spirits of Joy” , served as Deacon and in many other callings in the church. He was retired from Celanese Celco Plant at Narrows as a Supervisor, continued to work in various enterprises and for The Giles County School Board, until his illness, and was a member of Giles County Chamber of Commerce.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harry Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Barbara Anderson Johnson; his sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnell Thomas and Christina Johnson, of St. Petersburg, Florida, Stephen K. and Rachelle, of Roanoke, Va.; five grandchildren, Gatane Gallagher, Cheyenne Paige, Dominique Johnson, Chauntel Johnson, and Jayden Johnson; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Billie and Jung Johnson, of Burlington, N.J., Theodore R. and Minnie Johnson, of Ballard, W.Va., Harold and Brenda Johnson, of Pearisburg, Va.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and Jacob Sims, of Notasulga, Alabama, Mabel Johnson, of Hempsted, N.Y., Dreama and Ralph Beauford, of Roanoke, Va.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Pearisburg, with Pastor Michael Bratton officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
