amem_flag.jpgNeal Peyton Johnson, 90, of Pulaski, Va. died Sunday afternoon, March 29, 2009 at his home. He was born in Virginia on May 8, 1918 and was the son of the late Issac G. Johnson and Elizabeth Currin Johnson.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Largen Johnson, by a son, Neal Duane Johnson, a daughter, Elizabeth Frances Cox and by a great-grandchild, Nichole Diane Johnson.

He was a veteran having served in the United States Army during WWII and he was a member of the Jordan’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law Ann & Marvin Dalton, Pulaski, sisters Beulah J. Taylor, Pulaski; Clara J. Caraway, Pulaski; Grace J. Johnson, Pulaski; grandchildren & spouses Neal Duane & Michele Johnson, Jr., Greenville, S.C., Jeannie & John Southern, Pulaski; Donna Davis, Groveport, Ohio; Kathy Cox, Lyons, Ga., Tammy & Billy Chapman, Oak Hill, West Virginia; 2 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Grimm and the Rev. Jim Linkous officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be Tuesday evening at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials may be made to the Jordan’s Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, Alum Spring Rd., Pulaski, Va. 24301.
