Johnson, Gladys I.

Gladys I. Johnson, of Blacksburg, was born February 28, 1923 in Rebersburg, Pa. She died April 20, 2013, at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Johnson in 2008.

She lived, for the past 38 years, in the Christiansburg / Blacksburg area. She was a faithful member of Auburn Baptist Church.

She is survived by five children and their spouses, Laura Marthas, Linda Knoblet, Elizabeth Basle, Don Johnson and John Johnson; also 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law.

She served as a teacher for over forty years and had great love and interest in her former students, until the time of her death. She was involved in nursing home ministry and visiting and encouraging others, as well as singing in the church choir.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service on Saturday, at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
