Johnson, Emily Catherine Collins

Emily Catherine Collins Johnson, 76, of the White Gate community, Pearisburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Giles County, Va. on April 7, 1932, the daughter of the late Eugene Mose and Emma Kate Kitts Collins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry Johnson. She was a member of the Shady Grove United Methodist Church, was a volunteer at the Bland Mission and was a retired employee of the Celanese Corporation.

She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Michael Johnson, of White Gate and friend, Trish Herald and her son, Adam; Eugene Francis and Jill Johnson, of White Gate; John Jeffrey and Della Johnson, of White Gate; three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Johnny Powell, of Pearisburg; Donna and Roger Sarver, of Pembroke; Tammy and Michael Riggs, of Pearisburg; two sisters, Polly Hager, of Narrows, Mary Havens, of Salem; one brother and sister-in-law, Eugene Mose Jr. and Masel Collins, of Pearisburg; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate with the Rev. Brad Lewis and Rev. Wayne Monroe officiating. Burial in the Walkers Creek Cemetery, White Gate. Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday after 1 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
