Jimenez, Julio Joaquin
Julio Joaquin Jimenez, 85, died November 24, 2011 in Blacksburg, Va. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Jimenez and father, Dr. Julio Jimenez. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen; brother-in-law, Fred Armstrong, who was like a son and his wife, Bettie; daughters, Evelyn Machingo and Trisha Voshell and her husband, Reese; granddaughters, Tessie Albert and Stephanie Voshell; his brother, Dr. John Jimenez and his wife, Margaret; stepmother, Ethel Jimenez; three nieces and five nephews.
Julio owned Armstrong Printing Company in Lynchburg, Va. before coming to Poly Scientific in Blacksburg as manufacturing engineer. He then became printing plant manager at Virginia Tech, where he retired as publications director. He graduated from Virginia Tech and was proud to be solo clarinetist with the Highty-Tighties in the 1940s. After retiring, Julio enjoyed traveling the U.S. and Nova Scotia with Helen. He especially loved camping and fishing at the beach, as well as his hobbies of woodworking and bird watching. He enjoyed many years of hiking the Appalachian Trail with Dick. He was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be at McCoy Funeral Home Monday November 28, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Westview Cemetery, Tuesday November 29, 2011 at 2 p.m. with Dr. James I. Robertson Jr. officiating.
