William Calup Jessie, age 82 went to be with the Lord – Sunday, August 16, 2009 at the Pulaski Community Hospital. Born April 29, 1927 in Winding Gulf, West Virginia he was the son of the late William “Bill” & Katie Katherine Smith Jessie.

His brother; Sterling Jessie, sisters; Oma Jessie, Emilee Profitt, Cora Absher, Mary Lou Steel, Virginia Davis, Dovie Wells and one grandson; Terry Blankenship also preceded him in death.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II.

He is survived by –

Wife of 60 years as of May 23, 2009- Virginia Pearl Cook Jessie – Pulaski,

Children- Roger Lee & Janice Jessie – Christiansburg, VA,

Sandra Jane Blankenship – Christiansburg, VA,

William Donald & Peggy Jessie – Pulaski,

Teresa Pearl Jessie & John Ososki – Livona, MI,

Michael Jay & Suzette Jessie – Wytheville, VA,

19 Grandchildren- 7 Great Grandchildren- 7 Great Great Grandchildren-

Sisters- Ruby Gilbert, Lula Forehand & Larry Carpenter,Millie Kirgis -All of Mt. Clemons, MI,

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening with a service following at 7:00 P.M. at the Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski with the Elders Don Singleton and Jay Harris officiating.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Hurst Scott Funeral Home – Richlands, Virginia with the Elder Farley Beavers officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhill Memorial Gardens – Claypool Hill, (Cedar Bluff) Virginia where the Casey/Shortt V.F.W. Post # 9640 will conduct full military honors.

The family will receive friends at the Hurst Scott Funeral Home – Wednesday evening from 6:00-9:00 P.M. Wednesday.
