Jessee, Louise Dunn

Louise Dunn Jessee, age 96, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020, at her home in Glen Lyn, VA. Louise was gentle and gracious with everyone and very loved for her sweet spirit. She represented the “genteel southern lady,” a woman of great inner strength when needed, yet offered kindness and understanding for all acquaintances. She was a Christian. Those who knew her would tell you she lived her life by the golden rule, every day. She wanted to know how you and your family were. She was a treasure.

She was born November 23, 1923, in McDowell County, WV, a daughter of the late Zelmer and Faye Spangler Dunn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Jesse, Jr.; brothers Cramer, Eugene, and Herbert Dunn; and sisters, Mary Lee Wilson and Ina Hale.

Survivors include her children, Betty Davis and husband Virgil of Richmond, VA, Noah Jessee and wife Teresa of Chester, VA; two grandchildren, Nic Davis and wife Lisa, and Katelyn Carr and husband Sean; three great grandchildren who brought her so much joy, Tyler, Addison, and Connor Davis; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at the Glen Lyn Church of Christ in Glen Lyn, VA, with Ministers Dan Nichols and Dan Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Peterstown Cemetery in Rich Creek, VA. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105) or the Shriners Hospitals for Children (2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607).
