Jessee, Bernice Whitt

Bernice Whitt Jessee, 83, of Radford, Va., passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010. Preceding her in death was her husband, Arthur Jessee; and father and mother, Louin and Onie Teel Whitt. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Wanda Jessee; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Randy Wright; half sister, Shirley Hoffman, of Salisbury, N.C.; grandchildren, Emily Jessee, Luke Wright, and Jake Wright; great-grandchildren, Alec Jessee, Adalynn Jessee, Rachel Wright, and Alex Wright; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Affectionately known as “Mama Bear,” she loved her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. There will be a graveside service 11 a.m. on Monday, November 1, 2010, at Central Cemetery in Radford with the Reverend Karen Lane officiating. There will be a celebration of life held at Grove United Methodist Church in Radford following the service. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the American Lung Association or to Grove United Methodist Youth. There will be no visitation. DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
