Jennings, Trevia Mahaffey

Trevia Mahaffey Jennings of Eggleston, Virginia, age 70, departed this world for her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. She was born in Pearisburg, Virginia on August 30, 1952 to the late Edward Floyd (Ed) Mahaffey and Frances Kathryn (Honey) King Mahaffey.

She happily called Giles County her home for the majority of her life. Throughout the years, she attended Mt. Lebanon United Methodist in Hoges Chapel and thought of it as her home church.

Trevia was a proud member of the Giles High School class of 1970. After graduation, she went on to further her education at National Business School in Roanoke, Virginia studying bookkeeping, accounting and office management. Her professional career included employment with VPI Bookstore, Cooke and McMillion CPA Firm, Roller Floral, Felix Books and Gifts and Nebraska Bookstore.

Trevia, affectionately known by others as “Hollywood” loved Bluegrass music. She attended many fiddlers conventions and jammin’ sessions over the years. You could often enjoy watching her enthusiastically play along with her red-handled spoons. She also had a passion for the New River and found peace relaxing on its banks. Through her life’s journey, she shared countless adventures and made numerous memories full of love and laughter with her dedicated friends known as the Pajama Party Girls.

In her later life, she was a self-proclaimed homebody and was extremely content with sitting at home on the couch commentating on college basketball and football games. She had a natural gift of gab and never passed up the opportunity to chit-chat on the phone. Her true joy in life came from becoming a “Nanny” to her adoring grandchildren, who loved her “to the moon and back”!

In addition to her parents, Trevia was preceded in death by her sister, Charlene Mahaffey Williams and her two beloved canine companions, Beau and Phoebe.

Left to cherish her memory is her only daughter, Sheri Jennings Kosgei, her son-in-law, Alexander (Alex) Sang and her two grandchildren, Alexandra Kosgei and Jennings Kosgei. She is also survived by sister, Shelby Mahaffey; brother, Duke Mahaffey; nieces, Michelle Steele, Julie Parsons, Jessica Pritt, and Kelsey Dudley; and a nephew, Travis Norfleet.

Services will be held in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel at 605 Snidow Street in Pembroke, Virginia on Sunday, January 29, 2023. Family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
