Cheryl Johns Jennelle, age 62, of Blacksburg died, Saturday, September 2, 2006, at Richfield Recovery and Care Center.

She was born in Christiansburg, Va. on June 28, 1944 to the late Dr. Vernon O. and Beatrice Draper Johns and was also preceded in death by a son Leonard L. Jennelle, Jr. She was a retired teacher from Montgomery County Public Schools and loved interacting with her pupils and coworkers. She was and avid gardner, cook and a classical pianist.

She will be sadly missed by her students, friends, family and especially her husband of 42 years Leonard L. Jennelle, Sr. , of Blacksburg; daughters and son-in-law, Lisa J. and Michael Tilley, of Roanoke, Karen C. Jennelle and fianc? David W. Draper, Jr., of Ashburn, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Monica Glave, of Richmond; grandchildren, Alexa, Amanda, and Amelia Tilley, Katelyn, Leah, Savannah, and Phoebe Draper, Celeste and Sienna Glave. She was preceded in death from her extended family by Margaret Stone Bowles.

From her extended family she is survived by Donald and Lee Bowles, of Northern Virginia, Alvin and Karen Bowles, of North Carolina, James and Jackie Butcher, Kathy and Jerry Maciak, Liz and Al Strachan, and Jimmy Butcher, all of Michigan, Ann and Mike Brewer, of Texas, Charlotte and Bill Martin, of Narrows, and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Stone, of New York. The family would like to thank all Cheryl’s care givers especially Debbie Smith for her loyal service and friendship.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial gardens Christiansburg, Va. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Central and Western VA Chapter-Roanoke Region, 2728 Colonial Ave., Suite 2, Roanoke, Va. 24015. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, September 4, 2006 at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW. Blacksburg.
