Jenkins, Howard Carlton
Howard Carlton Jenkins, 57, of Pulaski, departed this life on August 9, 2011, after a short illness. He was born May 8, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York. He was educated in the Pulaski County School System, graduating from Pulaski High School in 1972. He continued his education at John Tyler Community College in Chester, earning a degree in Mortuary Science. Howard was a brother of the Pi Sigma Etta National Mortician Fraternity. Howard was a conscious Insurance Agent representing the Monumental Life Insurance Company. Howard was a avid music lover becoming a prolific drummer. He was a member of Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church, Pulaski. Howard was a foundering member of the New River Valley Progressive Men’s Club. He was employed by Penn’s Funeral Home, Inc. for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his father, John Jenkins; uncles, Ottaway Patterson, Maceo Patterson, Vineyard Patterson, William (Billy) Patterson, John (Jr.) Patterson ;and aunt, Margaret Jacobs. He is survived by his mother, Mable P. Jenkins and Nancy P. Jones; special friend, Heather Rakes; and a host of cousins and friends. As we come together in grief we acknowledge our human lost; May God search our hearts that we may find comfort in sorrow, hope and in death resurrection. We affirm with praise and thanksgiving the goodness of the Lord and the life of Howard C. Jenkins. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sharon Bowers officiating. Visitation will be noon until the time of service. Interment at Pinehurst Cemetery, Pulaski. The family is being served by Penn’s Funeral Home, Pulaski, 540-230-0730.
