George Edward Jarrell, 101, of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at English Meadows, Christiansburg. He was born in Riner on February 17, 1911, to the late Henry and Elizabeth Allen Jarrell. He was also predeceased by wife, Icy Phillips Jarrell; his daughter, Peggy Jarrell Sifford; a granddaughter, Joan Sifford Orange; five sisters and seven brothers. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Conelia and Bobby Sifford, of Blacksburg, Bonnie and Donald Bennett, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Janice and Emerson Rudacille, of Front Royal; two sons and daughters-in-law, Delmon and Susie Jarrell, Larry and Nancy Jarrell, all of Christiansburg; one brother, Ike Jarrell, of Texas; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Michael Payne and his nurse, Roxanne, and to all the staff at English Meadows Retirement Center and Good Samaritan Hospice. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Chuck Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Appalachian Conference Cemetery, Dublin. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice .
