Mr. James P. Janosik, 85, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, September 27, 2007 at home following an extended illness. He was born in Hopewell, Virginia, son of George J. and Mary Kochis Janosik and one of eleven brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mildred Leonard Janosik and had been a resident of Richmond, Virginia most of his life. Jim graduated from Virginia Tech in 1943 in Chemical Engineering and was a member of the Old Guard. He retired as a senior research engineer after 39 years of service from E. I. Dupont, Inc. and was honorably discharged as a Captain in the 886th Engineers Battalion, United States Army, having served in New Guinea, the Philippines, Okinawa and Japan.

He is survived by his two sons, Christopher M. Janosik, of West Chester, Pa., daughter-in-law, Janice M. Janosik and granddaughter, Emily C. Janosik and Steven M. Janosik of Blacksburg, daughter-in-law Rhoda C. Janosik and grandson, David C. Janosik of Orlando, Florida and his sister, Helen O’Brien of Lutherville, Maryland.

The family will receive friends at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Blacksburg, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., on Monday, October 1, 2007, immediately preceding a funeral mass celebrated by Father James M. Arsenault, Pastor, at 11:30 a.m., with interment to follow at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg. I
