Dorothy Elizabeth Janney, 98, of Copper Hill, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022. Dorothy was born May 7, 1924 to the late Morris Allen and Ida Mae Cannaday Vest. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Willard Janney; brothers, Kyle A. Vest, Ralph M. Vest, David R. Vest.

She is survived by her sisters, Ruth V. Ingram, Marie V. Thomas (Bill); brothers, Paul L. Vest, Charles W. Vest (Loretta P.), James B. Vest (Katie S.); sister-in-law, Evelyn H. Janney. In addition to her siblings she loved and was loved and adored by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was a graduate of Check High School. She was a long time employee of an overall factory later known as Imperial Reading. She was a vital part of the payroll department and the last employee to leave when the factory closed. There is no way to express what a wonderful person she was, very loving, kind and giving. She made and gave away many afghans and was also known for her pound cakes and green beans.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Hylton and Pastor Darren Landon officiating. The Interment will follow at the Stonewall Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Stonewall Building Fund C/O Marie Thomas, 536 Poor Farm Rd.
