janney_chester_elwoodChester Elwood Janney, 79, of Floyd, Va., passed away on Monday, November 2, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Mincie West Janney. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife of 51 ? years, Evelyn Mae Harman Janney; sons, George Stephen Janney, and Robert Elwood and wife, Sherry Shaver Janney; daughter, Anita Janney Goad and husband, William Kyle “Butch;” brother, Thurman Willard and wife, Dorothy Vest Janney; sister, Lelia Janney Huff and husband, Coolidge; and grandchildren, Darin Goad, Stephanie Goad, Lindsey Janney, Austin Janney, Logan Janney, and Ava Janney.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at the Stonewall Brethren Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Hylton and the Rev. Darren Landon officiating. Interment to follow in the Vest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel.
