Janney, Alfred Kenneth

Alfred Kenneth “A.K.” Janney, 71, of Pilot passed away May 17, 2014. He retired from Volvo in 2005 after 30 years of dedicated service. He loved his church, grandchildren and fishing. A.K. was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred & Edna Janney; grandson, Austin Stuart Janney.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margie E Janney; sons & daughters-in-law, Duwayne & Sandra Janney, Scott & Debora Janney, and Greg & Debra Janney; brothers & sister, Jasper W. Janney, Charles W. Janney and Dena & Tommy Alderman; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and many special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 19th at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dan Whitlock and Rev. T. Michael Bond officiating. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the nursing staff at New River Valley Medical Center, the staff of The Blue Ridge Cancer Center and all the friends and family who have helped at the home.
