Janey, Nathanial Reed
Nathanial Reed Janey, 31, of Blacksburg, passed away in his sleep on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at his apartment home. He was born on October 26, 1981, in Great Falls, Montana. He was a graduate of Blacksburg High School, Class of 2000.
Nathan was an avid fan of the Virginia Tech football Hokies and enjoyed watching their games and collecting player memorabilia. The sport that brought him the greatest joy, however was pool. He loved playing, and was a member of the Amateur Pool Association (APA) and tried never to miss participating in any New River Valley League game, tournament or charitable cause game. He had won numerous awards.
Nathan was a member of the Blacksburg Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, where he found much joy in serving the Lord through his attendance and being a deacon for at least 10 years.
Surviving are his parents, Gentry R. Janey, of Pass Christian, Miss., and Deborah A. Sparks, of Christiansburg, Va.; a sister, Candace A. George, of Christiansburg; a special nephew, Kristopher Vaught, of Christiansburg; his grandmothers, Jane Janey Murley, of Blacksburg, and Elizabeth Adams, of Christiansburg; and his dear friend, Wanda Compton, of Blacksburg.
Memorial Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013, in the Blacksburg Christian Church. The family will receive friends after the services at a fellowship luncheon at the church. Interment services will be private in the Newport Cemetery at Newport.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that any memorial contributions be made to the building fund of the Blacksburg Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 240 Watson Avenue, Blacksburg, VA 24060.
