Hypes, Edwin A.

Edwin A. Hypes “Ed” of Christiansburg passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018 to be in heaven with Jesus with whom he has served 68 years. He was born in Craig County on September 29, 1927 to Vernie and Gladys Hypes. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert Hypes.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Thelma “Yang” McMahan Hypes. They were married for 69 years and had a very happy marriage and a wonderful home and family. Also surviving, son, Barry Hypes and wife, Carole, daughter, Sharon Hypes, brother, Billy.

Ed loved to play bluegrass music and also loved cars. His favorite car was a 1957 black Belair Chevrolet. He always kept it spotless. He and his wife Thelma formed the Highland Gospel Singers. They were well known in this area. He had lots of musicians he played music with down through the years and they were special to him and Thelma.

There will be no visitation. Graveside Services will be conducted Friday, April 6, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jimmie Lee Price officiating. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
