Olen Lee Hylton, 81, of Salem, Va. went to be with the Lord early on Friday, August 27, 2021. He was born in Floyd, Va. on February 20, 1940. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard and Edith Hylton, of Floyd.

Olen was a devoted, loving husband, father, and grandfather. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 60 years, Lavene Mannon Hylton; sons, Todd (Angie) Hylton, of Floyd and Adam (Christa) Hylton, of Salem; grandchildren, Haley and Hannah Hylton, of Salem and Austin Hylton, of Floyd; brother, Donald (Brenda) Hylton, of Floyd; sister, Iva Bukkila, of Riner; brother, Wayne (Darlene) Hylton, of Westminster, Md.; and brother-in-law, Dean (Mary) Mannon, of Salem.

Olen worked for Thomas Brothers Excavating in Salem, Va. for 40 years, first as an operator, then supervisor, and finally, general manager. Olen was a member of Peters Creek Church of the Brethren. Olen served as a deacon and trustee for several years. Olen enjoyed woodworking, helping his two sons with building projects, listening to bluegrass music, and square dancing with his wife.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 28, 2021, from 6 until 8 p.m. in the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor John Thompson officiating. Interment immediately following a procession to Laurel Branch Cemetery, Floyd.
