CSM Howell D. Hutchison, of Craig County, passed away at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery on March 22, 2013. He was born on October 9, 1923. He was a son of the late Bernard G. and Elizabeth K. Hutchison.

He was also preceded in death by his former wife, Carolyn Hutchison, sisters, Pauline Duncan and Helen Robertson, and a brother, Ernest (Gip) Hutchison.

Hutch proudly served his country for 30 years in the army, surviving in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam. He worked for Adams Construction driving a dump truck for many years. He loved Craig County, and was an avid hunter.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Bonnie Epperly Hutchison; sons, Daniel (Ashtyn) Hutchison and Brent Turner. He is also survived by son, Michael (Janet) Hutchison; daughters, Beth (Dennis) Schieber, Joann (Jerry) Webb, Mary Lynn (Howard) Styron, Sherri H. Roth and Melissa H. Lane. There were numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hutch had a special friend, Clyde Conner whom he loved dearly and spent lots of time with. Whether driving the dump truck or hunting, he always thought of Clyde as a son!

The family would like to give a special thanks to all the 2nd floor nurses and doctors for their support and excellent care given at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. We would especially like to thank Dr. John White for being such a great friend as well as his Doctor, and for the great care that he gave him for many years!

Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Bill Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in the Williams Cemetery, Craig County. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
