Hutcheson, Ivis Reynolds

Ivis Reynolds Hutcheson, 87, of New Market and formerly of Blacksburg, died Friday, February 8, 2013, at her residence. She was born April 21, 1925, in Patrick County and was a daughter of the late Hassie Turner and Mildred Fulcher Reynolds. She graduated from Virginia Tech in 1948. She was a kindergarten teacher at Blacksburg Presbyterian Day School, and Harding Avenue Elementary School in Blacksburg before retiring. She moved to Broadway in 1996. She volunteered at Plains Elementary School, where she continued her lifelong love for children. She was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church. On June 14, 1948, she married John Redd Hutcheson Jr., who preceded her in death in December, 1975. She is survived by her sons, Robert W. Hutcheson and wife, Janet, John R. Hutcheson III and wife, Mary Dixon; grandchildren, Rawles and Perry Hutcheson; one brother, Buddy Reynolds; six sisters, Mary I. Fasano, Elva Burgchardt, Mae Holoman, Dae Williams, Sue Smart, Drue Hurd. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Broadway Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2013, at Westview Cemetery in Blacksburg. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Holtzman Alumni Center, 901 Prices Fork Road, Blacksburg.
