Hurt, Stanley Robert

Stanley Robert Hurt, 90, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at his home in Fairlawn. He was a WWII U. S. Army veteran where he was a POW and a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. He served his country with pride.

He was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church and a loving husband, father, granddad and “Old” Papaw.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Juanita Hurt and grandson, Larry Minnick, Jr., his parents, Sherman Robert and Bertie Lucinda Custer Hurt, and brother, Trigg Hurt

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Larry Minnick of Fairlawn; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Teresa Hurt of Radford; grandchildren and their spouses, Kenny and Jessi Hurt, Jennifer and Mike Mattson, Robert Hurt, Duane and Amy Minnick, Robin and Travis Akers, Chancey and Laurie Sheppard, and Chelsea and Matt Phipps; great grandchildren, Savannah, Lylah, Macy, Landon, Justin, Dylan, Cullin, Rylee, Trenten, Cole, Morgan, Branson, Corey, Hailey, Axle, Chloe and Isabella; and special friend, Pansey Geralds..

The family will receive friends Monday, January 26, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Mullins funeral Home in Radford. Memorial services will begin at 7:00 pm with Rev. Ginny Tompkins and Rev. Jerry Sloss officiating. Burial will be private at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.
