Hurley, Marsha Martin

Marsha Lynne Martin Hurley, 67, went to be with Jesus on Monday, August 26, 2019, at the Springfield Center in Lindside, WV, after a 13 year hard fought battle with cancer and its treatments. Born February 25, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Viola Martin. Marsha worked at Leggett in Pearisburg, Princeton Hospital, Cochran and Associates Insurance, and lastly was pianist for Angel’s Rest Baptist Fellowship Church in Pearisburg.

Until failing health she loved browsing yard sales and attending estate sales. She enjoyed telling stories, some quite amusing, about new and old pieces she acquired. Marsha cherished the days she could spend with and cook for her children and grandchildren. As her mother before her, she was an excellent cook with something always prepared for whomever visited. Her little dogs, Grace and GG, were also a big part of her life and enjoyment.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her husband Richard Hurley, sister and brother in law, Elizabeth and Bill Cupp. Surviving are sons Byron Hurley and wife Trena, Cashmere, WV, Brennan Hurley and wife Ginger, Charleston, WV, and daughter Beth Weikle, Peterstown, WV. Also, grandchildren Dylan and Regan McMahan, Emma and Ella Weikle, Rachel Hurley and Jenna Hurley. In addition, she leaves behind a sister, LaDonna Thompson and husband Howard, Haymarket, VA, and a brother, Charles Martin, Dallas, TX. She will also be missed by 4 special nieces, Stephanie, Sabrina, Monica and Melanie, as well as 3 special cousins, Patsy, Dottie, and Shirley.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019, at 1:00 PM at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Pastors John Offenberger and Walt Bonnell officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of services on Friday at the funeral home. Interment, following the service, will be at Orchard Cemetery, Ballard, WV.
