Nathaniel (Bill) Henry Hurd, age 81 of Floyd, died late Saturday evening June 15, 2013 at Skyline Manor Nursing Home in Floyd. He was born on February 28, 1932 in Pulaski, and was the son of the late Ethel Hughett Hurd and Edward Dulaney Hurd.

Bill was a retired auto body repairman, he once regularly attended the Church of God of Prophecy, in Pulaski, and most recently attended the Topeka Brethren Church in Willis.

He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1184, was a disabled American Veteran (DAV), and was a member of the Pulaski American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar C., a sister, Nancy H. Beckner. He is survived by his wife, Verlon Mooney Hurd: a son, Billy E. Hurd and his wife Pam of Pulaski: a daughter, Patricia H. Vaughn and her husband Bradley of Willis: three brothers, Edward (Bob) R. Hurd of Gainsville, GA, A. Grant Hurd and his wife Judy of Moneta, and Roger D. Hurd and his wife Diane of Pulaski: He is also survived by two grandchildren, Nathaniel (Nathan) Dale Hurd and his wife Brittany of Pulaski, and Kyra Ellen Vaughn of Willis, along with numerous nephews, nieces and a multitude of cousins.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Seagle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Lawson and Brother Mike Varner officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
