Hurd, Edgar Carter
Edgar Carter Hurd, 70, passed away Monday, May 4, 2009, at his home in Fairlawn, Va. He was a member of the Max Creek Baptist Church and retired from Goodwill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Dulaney Reeves and Ethel Ruby Hughett Hurd; and a son, Edward Carter Hurd.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Lee Gallimore Hurd, of Fairlawn; a son, Jeffery Hurd, of Chugiak, Alaska; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Allison and Randy Franklin, of Lindside, W.Va.; a stepson and his wife, Michael and Angie Gallimore, of New River; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Diane Hurd, of Pulaski, Grant and Judy Hurd, of Moneta, Bill and Verlon Hurd, of Willis, and Bob Hurd and Carol, of Blairville, Ga.; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Harry Beckner, of Salem; nine grandchildren, Candice, Matthew and Heath Archie, Aaron, Anthony and Alexynn Hurd, and Shyann, Kourtney and Shane Gallimore; one great-grandchild, Alexia Archie; and numerous cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2009, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. Mike Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
