Guy Melvin (Sox) Hunter, 74, of Blacksburg, Va., went to be with his Lord on June 23, 2006, at Montgomery Regional Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born on July 26, 1931 to the late Murray L. and Erma Morgan Hunter. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Cromer Hunter; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Tommy Alls; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Sherry Hunter, all of Blacksburg; brother and sister-in-law, Beverly and Edith Hunter, of Christiansburg; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Charles Church, of Blacksburg. Also surviving are two grandsons, Kevin and Jason Alls; granddaughter, Alexandria (Alex) Hunter; two great grandchildren, Hayden and Evann Alls; and a special friend, Charlie Akers. The family would like to express special thanks to the doctors and nurses in the I.C.U. at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 26, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronald Hodge, the Rev. Rador Vaden, and the Rev. Tony Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg.

Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Sunday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress Street, NE, Blacksburg, Va.
