Hungate Sr., Norman Elwood

Norman Elwood Hungate Sr., 67, of McCoy, Va., died on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Lewis Gale/Montgomery Hospital. He was born in Montgomery County, Va., on August 18, 1943, to the late Ed and Eleanor Hungate.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, John Blount and Buford Wheeling; and two great-nieces, Savannah Weseloh and Laura Barker.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte B. Hungate, of McCoy; daughter, Vanessa Hungate, of McCoy; sons and daughters-in-law, Norman (Woody) Hungate Jr., of McCoy, James (Jimmy) and Kathy Hungate, of Zephyrhills, Fla., Anthony (Tony) and Rhonda Hungate, of Bland; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Raymond McMahan, of Christiansburg, Mary and Larry Smith, of Newport, Tiny and E.B. Duncan, of Floyd, Frances and Jimmy Alls, of Blacksburg, and Peggy Hungate and Adam, of Christiansburg; sisters-in-law, Barbara Wheeling, of Christiansburg, and Bonnie Blount, of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Dallas (Tater) Noe and Michael Alls; and several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2011, in the Walton Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Pastor Lee Sarver and Mr. James O. Flaugher officiating. Interment will follow in the Richard McCoy Cemetery. Friends may call any time on Friday, January 28, 2011, after noon and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg, Va., 540-552-3211.
