Hungate, Emmett Carl (Mickey)

Emmett Carl (Mickey) Hungate, 77, of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at Wheatland Hills. He was born in West Virginia on April 21, 1934, to the late Robert Clarence and Ida Jones Hungate.

He was raised by his Aunt Pearl and Ray O’Brien who also preceded him in death. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Hylton Hungate and second wife, Shelba McMahan Hungate.

He retired from Virginia Tech Electric Service with over 30 years of service.

He is survived by his son, Darron and Elaine Byrd, of Newport; grandchildren, Amanda and Logan; and special friends, David Morris and Sandra Reynolds.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. John Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Amedisys Hospice, 1312 W. Main St., Salem, VA 24153. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg.
