Hungate, Betty Ann Whitaker

Betty Ann Whitaker Hungate, 55, of McCoy, died Monday, November 6, 2006 at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

She was born in Montgomery County, Va. on May 10 , 1951 and was preceded in death by her father, Robert Lee “Frog” Whitaker, Sr.; and a brother, Robert Lee “Bobby” Whitaker, Jr.; and a sister, Barbara Jean Whitaker.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel Eugene “Pooch” Hungate of McCoy; mother, Aleene Oliver Whitaker of Blacksburg; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Kevin Dunford of Rich Creek; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Samuel, Jr. and Tina Hungate of Christiansburg, Steve Hungate, of Christiansburg; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Ray of Blacksburg, Sandra and Charles Price of Blacksburg, Dorothy and Darrell Harvey of Giles, Ella and Hunter Clayton of Giles; brother, Darrell E. Whitaker of Vallejo, California; a wonderful special sister-in-law, Phyllis Elliott of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Anthony B. “T.J.” Sheppard, Jr. of McCoy, Michelle Anne Sheppard of Rich Creek, Steven Dunford of Rich Creek; stepgrandchildren, Austin Hungate of Christiansburg, Kayla Hungate, of Myrtle Beach, Sierra Hungate and Cheyenne Hungate, both of Allegheny, Jordan Starks of Staunton.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Community Christian Church with Mr. James O. Flaugher and the Rev. Ira Smith, Jr., and the Rev. Danny Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in the McCoy Family Cemetery.

Friends may call anytime after 5 p.m. Wednesday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Community Christian Church, McCoy, Va.
