Hughes, Estil Ellan

Estil Ellan Hughes, 85, of Eggleston, departed this life Thursday September 13, 2007 at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem.

Born on Wolf Creek above Narrows on March 11, 1922 he was a son of the late James F. and Betty Blankenship Hughes. He was retired as a twisting operator at Celanese Celco Plant at Narrows and operated his family farm at Eggleston.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Hetherington Hughes. He leaves to cherish his memory a son and daughter-in-law, Clarence “CE” and Robena Blevins Hughes of Fairlawn; a daughter, Linda H. Kaiser of Hillsboro, Oregon; a sister, Nona H. Conley of Narrows; three grandchildren, Jenifer Rucker, Scott Hughes, and Jason Hughes.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday September 17, 2007 at 11 a.m. in The Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
