Hughes, Ella Allen

Ella Allen Hughes, 85, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at her home. She was born in Montgomery County, Va. on April 2, 1922 to the late Fred and Bessie Slusser Allen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Miller Hughes; two brothers, Roy F. Allen and Ivan L. Allen; a sister, Irene A. Heavener; and a son-in-law, George W. Gordon, III.

She is survived by daughters, Anne H. Gordon of Buffalo Junction, Va. and Mae and Norman Myers of Fayetteville, Pa.; sister, Louise Allen of Blacksburg; sisterin-law, Helen Allen of Roanoke; loving and devoted nephews, Nelson and James Heavener of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Gregory V. Gordon, Eric M. Gordon, Laura J. Dean and Lisa A Nibbelink; and six greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, October 28, 2007 at 3 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Rice officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until service time on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carilion Hospice Service of NRV, 707 Randolph St., Suite 251, Radford, Va. 24141.
