HUFFMAN, Viola Virginia Lovern

Viola Virginia Lovern Huffman, 90, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at Kroontje Health Care Center.

A native of Blacksburg, she was born September 1, 1915, just off the present South Main Street and was the daughter of the late Matthew Lee Lovern and Gaynie Ann Sweeney Lovern. She attended the Ellett School and had been a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church for nearly 60 years and was a charter member of the New Hope (now Blacksburg) Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served as secretary and treasurer from 1949 until 1970. At the time of her death she was a member of the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She was the widow of Arthur Lee Huffman and was preceded in death by two brothers, Harless Lee Lovern and Ralph Hubert Lovern; and one great-granddaughter, Cordelia Elizabeth Huffman.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Huffman Phillips and Thomas Hoyt Phillips, Radford, Wanda Huffman Wright and James Nash Wright, Weyers Cave; three sons and daughters-in-law, Audrey Lee Huffman and Naomi (Sue) Linkous Huffman, Donald Arthur Huffman and Joanne Barker Huffman, Christiansburg, Danny Ray Huffman and Katherine Rodes Huffman, Blacksburg; one brother, Clifford William Lovern, Christiansburg; nine grandchildren, Cory Stuart Huffman, Jon Michael Huffman, Mary Elizabeth Dobbins, Radford, Nicholas Hoyt Phillips and Paula Huffman Hill, Christiansburg, Matthew Ross Wright and Johns Matthew Rodes Huffman, Blacksburg, James Michael Wright, Greensboro, N.C., Jennifer Anne Walton, Lexington, Kentucky; two great-grandsons, Wesley Michael and Daniel Lee Hill of Christiansburg.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2006 at the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church conducted by the Reverend Jerry G. Sloss, and the Reverend Reginald Tuck with entombment to follow in the Huffman Family Mausoleum at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Friday, and the family will receive friends Friday, March 24, 2006, from 7 to 9 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg, Virginia.
