Huffman, Nell S.

Nell S. Huffman, 91, of Pearisburg, Va., and formerly of Narrows, Va., went to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, April 11, 2010. She was born on April 21, 1918, in Montgomery County, Va., to the late William T. Stone and Allie Tillie Stone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kelly H. Huffman; daughters-in-law, Judy Bradley Huffman and Trudy Turner Huffman; sisters, Margaret Grogg, Allie Martin and Mary McCoy; and brothers, William T. Stone, Boyd Stone and Robert Stone. Nell was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Narrows where she served for many years as a Junior Deacon, Choir member and Sunday School Teacher, and was a life time member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #68 in Narrows, where she held many positions. She worked for many years in the shoe department of Coburn’s Department Store in Narrows and Pugh’s Department Store in Narrows serving many customers who became friends over the years. Nell was a devoted Christian, wife and mother. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Patricia H. and Roger C. Mullins, of Pearisburg, Va., John Kelly and Karen Huffman, of Blue Ridge, Va., Ronald C. and Winona Huffman, of Nome, Alaska, and Jerry A. and Melanie Huffman, of Pembroke, Va.; grandchildren, Scott Kelly Mullins, Kim Mullins Hall, Amanda Roemer, Brittany Colegrove, Ronald C. Huffman Jr., Rhonda Huffman Ballew, Randall Huffman, Ryan Huffman, Lt. Col. Jerry A. Huffman Jr., Heather Huffman Shepherd, Brandon Williams and Lindsey W. Ramey; greatgrandchildren, Ian Kelly Mullins, Sarah Elizabeth Mullins, Jesse Catherine Mathias, Erica Woods, Aaron Woods, Christian C. Ballew, Ronald C. Huffman III, Devon Huffman, Evan Huffman, Britney R. Huffman, Brandon Huffman, Lyndon Huffman, Colton Huffman, Kyle Huffman, Ashlyn Huffman, Avery Huffman, Rhea Faith Shepherd, Gabriela Grace Shepherd, and Braelynn Williams; care givers, Eloise Martin and Illene McKinney, who especially loved the prayers Nell would say for them when she was ready for bed; the caring “200 Wing” staff at Riverview Nursing Home and her roommate, Evelyn Blankenship. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2010, in the chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg.
