Huffman, Iletta

Iletta Huffman, 89, of Newport, was born on July 17, 1923, in Craig County, and passed away on June 28, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cameron W. Huffman; daughter-in-law, Linda J. Huffman; sisters, Eva Saunders and Sally Patton; and a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Eula Huffman.

She is survived by her son and wife, Clyde and Nancy Huffman; daughter and husband, Sherry and Ken Pearson; three grandsons, Greg Huffman and wife, Elizabeth, Tim Huffman and wife, Angie, and Eric Pearson; and by three great-grandchildren, Heather, Maggie, and Mason Huffman. She is survived by two siblings, Loretta Allison and husband, Tom and Harold Gene Hughes and wife, Jo; along with several nieces and nephews; and a special new friend, Becky Rea. Ileta was a life long member of Level Green Christian Church and lived most of life on the family farm in the Sinking Creek Valley near Newport. She worked for many years as food service supervisor at Dietrick Dining Hall on the Virginia Tech campus. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Her passion was preparing large family meals especially around the Holidays and watching the Hokies play football. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Level Green Christian Church with Pastor Dan Carawan and Pastor Harold Morris officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Ross Cemetery in Craig County. The family will recieve friends one hour prior to funeral service.
