Dewayne Miller Huffman, 83, of Blacksburg, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Lewis Gale Hospital- Montgomery. He was born in Newport December 3, 1929, to the late Lamah and Rena Fisher Huffman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Smith Huffman; two sisters, Helen Huffman Medley, Gladys Huffman Harless; brother, Robert Huffman.

He served in the United States Army during Korean Conflict and also worked in food service his entire life, retiring from Virginia Tech Food Service after 30+ years of service where he made numerous lifelong friends. He loved gardening…enjoyed his flowers every spring and summer.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa A. Huffman; sons, Glenn J. Huffman, Michael A. (Tony) Huffman, all of Blacksburg; sister, Eva Huffman Price, of Newport; numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Whitaker, Todd Kellison and the Rev. Ira Smith Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Testament Church of Christ, P.O. Box 344, Pearisburg, VA 24134.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
