Hudson, William Ed

William Ed (Sonnie) Hudson, 85, of Pearisburg, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Sonnie was born on July 1, 1931 in Pearisburg and was a son of the late Willie Edd Hudson and Lula Elvina Croy Hudson of Pearisburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Lee Hudson and an infant brother.

Sonnie retired from the Giles County Vocational School as a welding instructor after seventeen years. He was a devoted and faithful member of First Christian Church in Pearisburg serving on many committees including the Board of Deacons.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mae Brown Shrader Hudson of Pearisburg; his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Hudson Boswell and Gerald Boswell of Lucama, N.C.; granddaughter, Catherine Boswell of Lucama, N.C.; and several nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 11, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with Charles Henderson officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home.
