Huber, Helen Talbert
Helen Elizabeth Ruth Talbert Huber, 79, of Blacksburg passed away Monday, January 15, 2007.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Clyde Talbert and Elizabeth Leora Naff Talbert of Russiaville, Indiana.
Helen is survived by her husband, Melvyn Jay Huber; two sons, Michael Clay Huber of Charleston, South Carolina and David Talbert Huber and wife Joy of Seattle, Washington; one daughter, Victoria Huber Cochran and husband Steven of Blacksburg; four granddaughters, Kirsten Richert and husband Rick Wessler of Maplewood, New Jersey, Rosemary Richert Trimmer and husband Troy Trimmer of Edmonds, Washington, Ruth Richert and husband Simone Ilardi of Seattle, Washington and Assisi, Italy and Diana Aivia of Seattle, Washington; three great-grandchildren, Kyle Wessler and Hayley and Braden Lukas Trimmer.
Born in Indianapolis she was raised in Russiaville, Indiana and graduated with honors from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, where she served on the faculty in the Psychology Department and the Bureau of Testing and Research. She was employed as an administrator at F. W. Dodge Corporation in New York City, Secretary to the Post Exchange Officer at Quantico, Virginia, a radio disc jockey in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Administrator of the federal CETA program in the New Rochelle, New York school system and a legal secretary in law firms in White Plains, New York.
She was a gifted writer. “Homemaker/Home Health Aide” by Huber, Spatz & Coviello is a standard text in the health field. Raised in the Presbyterian and Methodist faiths she converted to Judaism at age 22. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Known for her gracious charm and ready wit her passing will be mourned by all who knew her.
All are invited to call at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg, Wednesday, January 17, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held at McCoy Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2007 with graveside service thereafter at Memorial Gardens in Blacksburg. Rabbi Kathy Cohen will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to charities of your choice in memory of Helen Talbert Huber. The family will be at home to those who wish to be received, at the home of Steven and Victoria Cochran, Thursday, January 18, 2007 any time after the service.
