Hubble, Ethel Creggar

Ethel Creggar Hubble, 80, of Pulaski, died Monday, December 31, 2012, at the Lewis Gale Hospital, Pulaski. She was the widow of Bailey Randolph Hubble, her husband of 48 years. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Shirley Jean. On Sunday, December 30, 2012, her five year old great-grandson, Ryan, sent her a message that “It’s about time for God to come and pick her up”, and he did early the next morning. Mrs. Hubble was born in Ceres, Va. on July 3, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Creggar. Ethel was one of eight children, she grew up in the Ceres area of Bland County and attended Ceres High School, where she loved to play basketball. While in high school she was first runner up in the Miss Bland County Beauty Pageant. She was a member of the Newbern United Methodist Church and was a stay at home mom until her children were grown. She then worked at the Pulaski County Health Dept. and worked there for 37 years, retiring at the age of 76. She is survived by her sons, Thomas Bailey Hubble and wife, Addie, and their daughter, Christi Alls and her children, Hayden and Evanne; Bill R. Hubble and his wife, Sue, and Bill’s children, Eric and his wife, Laura and their son, Andrew, and Emily and her husband, Justin Mann and their son, Ryan; Robert Alan Hubble and his wife, Rebecca and their daughter, Rachel and Bob’s son, Zachary Hubble and his son, Nathan. Ethel is also survived by one daughter, Tamara Lynn (Tammy), who was the light of her life. She has one surviving sibling, E.H. Creggar; and many other relatives. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Patterson and the Rev. Paul Goshorn officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Thursday evening from the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the Pack Back Program, C/O Newbern United Methodist Church, Stacy Horton, Treasurer.
