Roy Howard Hubbard, 86, of Dublin, Va., passed away at his home in Dublin on Saturday, December 19, 2009, with his loving wife beside him holding his hand. He was preceded in death by his father, Columbus Wyatt Hubbard, born in Barren Springs, Va., in 1898 and died in 1959; and his mother, Elizabeth Jenkins Hubbard, born in Hollister, Ohio in 1900 and died in 1980. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Claude “Toad” Hubbard, of Dublin, Va.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia G. Hubbard, of Dublin; two sons and daughters-inlaw, Steve and Donna Hubbard, of Buchanan, Va., and Charles and Kathy Hubbard, of Glen Allen, Va.; one stepson, Eric Goodman, of Beaver Creek, Ohio; and ex-wife and mother of his two sons, Ruth Owens, of Dublin, Va. He is also survived by five grandchildren; and two step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Mary Hubbard, of Salem, Va.

He was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army in the European Theater from 1943 to 1946. He served in England, France and Belgium. He was a disabled veteran due to war injuries. He was a life time member of VFW Post #4667 of Marion, life time member of the American Legion Post #0229 of Rural Retreat, life time member of Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and a charter member of World War II Memorial in Washington. He was employed with Burlington Industries for 30 years. He was a member of Glenwood Methodist Church in Barren Springs, Va.

The family would like to express thanks for all the help and all he did during this difficult period. He is an angel and we appreciate everything he did, our wonderful neighbor and friend, Jerry Young and also Perry King.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 27, 2009, from the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, Dublin, Va. The Rev. Don Sizemore will officiate. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Pulaski VFW Post #1184. Visitation will follow the service on Sunday at the Mausoleum Chapel.
