Lura Jane Weddle Howery, 84, of Blacksburg, passed away at Salem Health and Rehabilitation Center, Salem, Virginia, on May 6, 2008.

She was born in Floyd County, Virginia on May 15, 1923 to the late Hayden A. Weddle and Laura Alice Keith Weddle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Clinton (Dink) Howery, an infant daughter, two sisters, Elnora W. Dickerson and Sylvia W. Pratt and seven brothers, Henry, Howard, Joe, Luther, Delmar, Loy, and Wilbur Weddle.

Lura is survived by her son, Leslie Curtis Howery and his wife, LaVon Lilly Howery, of Silver Spring, Maryland; one grandson, Rodney S. Howery and his wife, Tina L. Howery, of Lehigh Acres, Florida; one granddaughter, Sarah H. Noone and her husband, Robert E. Noone, Jr. of Sanford, North Carolina; and one great-grandson, Alexander B. Noone of Sanford, North Carolina. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy W. Wright, of Blacksburg, Virginia; one brother, Melvin Weddle, of Tybee Island, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Salem Health and Rehabilitation Center for all their care and concern during the past years.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2008 , at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with interment at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg, Virginia.
