Howery, Lillian Gladys

Lillian Gladys Nunn Howery, age 97, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Radford Health and Rehab Center. She was born in Montgomery County, Va. on August 6, 1916 to the late Daniel Preston and Ella Mae Dalton Nunn.

She was also preceded in death by her husband Nevel Preston (Dee) Howery; and a son, Alvin Winston Howery; two grandsons, Timothy Boyle and Raymond Frazier; three sisters, Bessie Bland, Gertrude Hale, Irene Stein.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Ella Loretta and Eddie Boyle, of Decatur, Alabama, Madeline and Jake Frazier, Blacksburg, Patsy Duncan, Christiansburg, Janet and Billy Dowdy, Christiansburg; son and daughter-in-law, Alfred and Viola Howery, of Blacksburg; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, August 3, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Mr. Beaver Terry, Mr. Jerry Dowdy and Mr. David Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Belmont Christian Church Building Fund, 2149 Dominion Dr., Christiansburg, Va. 24073 and to Community Christian Church, P.O. Box 387, McCoy, Va. 24111.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
