1/11/1929 ~ 5/19/2011 Sarah S. Howard, 82, of Pearisburg, died on Thursday, May 19, 2011, at her residence at VMRC in Harrisonburg, of cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, James G.L. Howard, and their family, Sid and Betsy Howard, of Fayetteville, W.Va., Jim Anders and partner, Kemp Williams, of Fairfax, Bill and Lori Anders, of Merrill, Mich., and Col. Richard Anders and wife, Donna, of Camp Lejeune, N.C. Sarah is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Frank B. and Betsy Strader, of Pearisburg; her sister, Mrs. Barbara Nichols, of Culpeper; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Ann Wilson, of Shelbourne Falls, Mass. Jim and Sarah, who met and married in 1967, enjoyed 43 happy years together with their sons and families, including seven grandchildren and two greatgranddaughters. Sarah will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, hostess, cook, and for her strong Christian faith and integrity. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Woodstock with the Rev. Alexander D. MacPhail officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel Church or to Hospice.
