Howard, Billy Lawrence

Billy Lawrence Howard, 72, of Pilot, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2007, after years of fighting lung cancer.

Surviving are his longtime companion of 13 years, Nancy Nunley; one daughter, Frances Bowers of Ridgeway, Va; two sons, Ricky Howard of Fielddale, Va. and Brent Howard of Floyd, Va.; two stepdaughters, Angela Akers and Alecia Vaught, both of Christiansburg; grandsons, Joseph Bowers, Adam Bowers and Jonathan Howard; granddaughter, Lilly Howard; stepgrandchildren, Ashley Simpkins, Anastasia Macomber, Joshua Vaught, Zachary Vaught, Ashley Vaught, Brandon Vaught, Bridgett Vaught, Wendy Vaught, Killian Gwinn, Christopher Gwinn and Courtney Akers; special friends, Peggy Lanning and Tommy Alderman; numerous other friends from Hardee’s in Christiansburg, Martinsville and Richmond and colleagues.

Bill never met a stranger and he never lost a friend. “We love you very much and will miss you forever”. The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Ken Jones and Dr. Harry McCoy.

Memorial services will be conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, November 10, 2007, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, where family and friends may show their respect. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. The Howard family is being served by Horne Funeral and Cremation Service, Christiansburg.
