Horn, Eldren G. (Dan)

Eldren G. (Dan) Horn, 77, of Rich Creek, Va., passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010, at his home. Born on August 14, 1932, at Whitewood, Va., he was the son of the late Marvin and Mattie White Horn. Dan was retired from General Motors after 30+ years of service, was a United States Navy Korean War Veteran; a member of the Intermont Lodge #269 A.F. and A.M.; a member of the United Auto Workers of America; and a member of the Cashmere Baptist Church. He loved to hunt, fish and gratefully enjoyed life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Agnes Lucille Wilson Horn; three brothers, Isaac Dillo, James Buford and Stanford “Dick” Horn; and one sister, Rebecca Diana Weiss. Survivors include his wife, Delia P. Horn; three sisters, Norma Jean Short, and Shelby Clark and husband, Rev. Jack, both of Mineral, Va., and Jeraldine Horn, of Tazewell, Va.; a special cousin, Hullen White, of Crystal Block, Va.; and a multitude of nieces, nephews and special friends. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2010, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Offenberger officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Rich Creek, Va., with Military Rites by Pembroke VFW Post #311, Narrows VFW Post #6000, Narrows American Legion Post #68 and Peterstown Rowe Jones Post #145.
