Hopkins, William Clifford

William Clifford (Bubby) Hopkins, 78, of Parrott, Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 11, 2015. Bubby was born on July 29, 1936, to the late Grim Roberts and Nellie Ford Hopkins.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Edith Ratcliffe, Viola Akers, Lucille Harris, Shirley Hopkins, and Lola Jennelle; and his brothers, James and Grim Hopkins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Elizabeth “Libby” C. Hopkins; his sons, William Hopkins and his wife, Carla, of Dublin, Steven Hopkins and his wife, Anna, of Newton, N.C., and Mark Hopkins and his wife, Melanie, of Clarmont, N.C.; his daughter, Shirley Montgomery and her husband, Barry, of Pulaski, Va.; his sisters, Lois McCann and Lotus Williams; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

Bubby worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation for 32 years. He was also an active member with the Twin Community Fire Department for 45 years.

The family will receive friends at DeVilbiss Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Jo Ellen Hetherington officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
